Mini TFO, the #1 French-Language Educational Channel in Canada, Awarded with YouTube’s Silver Play Button

Published on 19 May 2016

Toronto, September 21, 2016 - Groupe Média TFO has announced the first step in a series of educational initiatives to be deployed across Canada. Starting today, all elementary schools and high schools in Ontario and Quebec will be able to register in the Your IDÉLLO School contest. The two winning schools will be transformed into stimulating, interactive and collaborative learning spaces.

Groupe Média TFO, a Canadian leader in French-language educational content production and aggregation, brings the digital learning experience one step further.

"We are continually evolving, and we use digital technologies as a means to foster the explosion and expansion of French-language spaces. By making our cutting edge digital learning content broadly available, we benefit the entirety of the Canadian Francophonie. An initiative such as this contest will get students to engage differently through an interactive, tailored experience," said Groupe Média TFO's President and Chief Executive Officer Glenn O'Farrell.

IDELLO is a rich, user-friendly world of learning. As an interactive hub, IDELLO brings together over 8,000 digital learning resources aligned with Ontario's curriculum and customizes the learning journey of students, teachers and parents alike by providing features and a workspace that promote discussions between like-minded user communities.

"Every teacher, parent and student dreams of the perfect classroom: a collaborative learning space that stimulates creativity and interactivity. With this contest, we can proudly provide two schools this ideal learning space that is already accessible virtually through IDELLO," explained Chief Digital Learning Officer Julie Caron.

Through a complete remodeling performed by a collective of Franco-Ontarian and Quebecois designers, the two winning schools will see one of their classrooms transformed into a stimulating, interactive and collaborative space of learning.

Under the artistic guidance of Jean-Constant Guigue, Francis Dakin-Côté, Marc O’Brien, Matthew Cherkas and Frédéric Bouin, two classrooms, one in Ontario and one in Quebec, will experience a customized metamorphosis. The creative collective was brought together specially for this occasion. It is comprised of artistic directors and designers whose works walk the line between graphic design and contemporary art, adapted to digital learning.

"We want to design a different space, where the primary function of an object can vary, in order to encourage students to be more inventive, ingenious and to think green, all in a digital learning context. We salute Groupe Média TFO's endeavour to suggest innovative projects like this one. We are all very excited to bring this transformation to life," said Francis Dakin-Côté.

The winning schools will be announced during a draw on October 18, 2016. The renovations will begin as soon as the winners are announced, according to the needs of the winning schools. The work is expected to be complete in 2017.
