GROUPE MÉDIA TFO DOCUDRAMA LE RÊVE DE CHAMPLAIN NOW AVAILABLE TO STREAM ONLINE FOR A LIMITED TIME

Published on 28 April 2015
Toronto, April 28, 2015 ◌ Le Rêve de Champlain, Groupe Média TFO’s flagship project for the 400th anniversary celebrations of the francophone community in Ontario, is now available to stream online for a limited time on the Rêve de Champlain website. The six-part docudrama is available to stream from April 27, 2015 to May 31, 2015. The series is based on Le Rêve de Champlain, the much acclaimed book written by Pulitzer Prize winner David Hackett Fischer. The innovative format combines dramatic segments - starring popular Quebec actor Maxime Le Flaguais in the role of Samuel de Champlain - with interviews and reports hosted by well-known Quebec host and journalist Marie-Louise Arsenault. Le Rêve de Champlain will also be adapted into English later this year. The series made its television premiere on TFO earlier this year. TFO led the production of the series that traces Champlain’s adventures from Brouage, his birthplace in France to Quebec, Ontario and south in to the United States. It was developed by Groupe Média TFO and produced by Slalom and the Groupe Fair-Play. Through the series, the celebration of Samuel de Champlain’s landing on Canadian shores in 1603 continues with the recognition of his arrival in Ontario in 1615, 400 years ago. Champlain left behind the seeds of a French population which would grow to over 600,000 Franco-Ontarians today.
