Donald Obonsawin
With more than 40 years of varied experience in the private and public sectors, Donald Obonsawin is the Founder and President of Directions, a management consulting firm. Since 2008, he has advised organizations from numerous economic sectors on policy and strategy development, as well as on management issues. Mr. Obonsawin worked for 25 years in the federal and provincial public services, including as deputy minister in seven Ontario ministries over the course of 15 years, from 1987 to 2002. He was also a high ranking public servant in Ottawa for the federal government from 1984 to 1987. From 2003 to 2007, he was President and CEO of Jonview Canada, the largest receptive travel company in Canada, with operations in 50 countries. Over the years, he has been part of many national, provincial and local boards of directors. He spent nine years as a board member at S-VOX, Vision TV’s holding trust, ONE Channel and NOW. He continues to be keenly interested in public administration and business. He is currently an associate of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada and of the Canadian Business Ethics Research Network (Schulich School of Business). In 1975, while he was working at Laurentian University, he joined a group of students and professors to design the Franco-Ontarian flag. Mr. Obonsawin has been a member of the Board of the Ontario French-Language Educational Communications Authority since December 2013.
